Cold rainy days in Napa call for a glass, or two of beautiful Cabernet. We are pleased to announce the release of our 95+ point 2019 Riverain Cabernet Sauvignon coming March 8th! As @jebdunnuck said “I love this wine today, but the cellar is going to be your friend on this one.”Mark those calendars as this is not a wine to miss out on.

Below are some tastings notes to get you even more excited. We took some time to taste a few bottles over several days. My first impression was this reminded me of the 2016 version, pretty high on the power scale, but with that extra delineation and length we are always looking for. 2019 was a Goldilocks year weather wise. No big heat spikes, no cold spells and a slightly under average size crop. Inky dark color, blackberry, iron, cassis and hints of tilled earth on the nose and in the glass. The mild season provided big velvety tannins that arrive late on the palate and there is plenty of Eastern Oakville acid. The balance and the length are what we like best. Mostly Darnajou, Taransaud and Baron cooperage. Definitely decant for early drinking and this should be a long ager.

We are very excited for the upcoming release of our 2018 Riverain Reserve Cabernet. There is an undeniable sense of optimism back in our lives, and we are very happy to turn the page on the last 15 months. Mark your calendars, this wine will be released Wednesday June 23rd, and will not last long!

We are also pretty thrilled the 2018 received 99 points! This has no question become are most sought after wine here at Riverain and we are thrilled to have Jeb agree with a fantastic 99 point score! Be sure to check out his tastings notes!

On behalf of your Riverain family, we are excited to share some exciting news regarding our long awaited release of our first ever Pinot Noir! After 5 years of our constant pestering, our esteemed winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown, finally caved into our request and agreed to make us some beautiful Occidental Pinot Noir from the acclaimed Silver Eagle Vineyard. For our inaugural vintage, the 2018 Riverain “Generations” Pinot Noir, we only produced 70 cases so we expect it will sell out quickly.
