2021
RESERVE

CABERNET SAUVIGNON

100% Cabernet
Aged in 100% French Oak,
100% new, 20 months

2021 was simply a fantastic growing season. Mild weather and a long slow harvest allowed for extended hang time. Weather, pruning, thinning, cooperage and dozens of other factors go into each wine. We are very lucky to have Thomas Rivers Brown to manage all of the winegrowing and winemaking decisions. In deciding to make a Reserve, tasting is believing for us. An extensive barrel tasting with Thomas led to four barrels of supreme quality.

There are a scant 160 cases of the 2021 Cabernet Souvignon Tench Vineyard The Reserve, which is a tiny barrel selection. It's actually hard to pick a favorite between this and the classic Tench Vineyard, as both are incredible wines, with the Reserve offering darker, powerful aromatics of smoky block fruits, crushed stone, and graphite. A more backward, primordial, massive wine, it hits the palate with tons of fruit, a dense, layered mid-palate, huge tannins, and a great finish. It will probably merit a perfect rating in a decade.

PHELAN RANCH

CABERNET SAUVIGNON

100% Cabernet
Aged in 100% French Oak,
85% new, 20 months

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the newest and most highly regarded vineyard sites in all of Napa is the perfect addition to our small wine family.  Located adjacent to Pritchard Hill, high above the valley floor at 1,800-foot elevation, the fruit from Phelan Ranch Vineyard is structured and complex. Our first mountain fruit ever, the vintage offers a plush, singular expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, with both elegance and power.

“A deep, dark, concentrated wine that’s lifted by a good vein of cherry freshness and acidity. So potent in dark chocolate, espresso and dried blueberry aromas, followed on the palate with flavors of graphite, cocoa, blackcurrants and bitter chocolate, with toast and oak char accents. Powerful, yet refined tannins support a lingering finish." -95 points, James Suckling

TENCH VINEYARD

CABERNET SAUVIGNON

100% Cabernet
Aged in 100% French Oak,
80% new, 20 months

Perhaps our best Tench Vineyard Cabernet to date, we are thrilled with this new release.

“A brilliant, structured and potently concentrated red that shows Oakville’s velvety texture, along with focused, deep and complex flavors. Lots of toasted oak, cocoa and graphite aromas, then deep blackberry, grilled-plum and black currant flavors that expand on the palate and linger in the finish. Offers persistent, fine-grained tannins and spicy oak that don’t quit. Drinkable now, but best from 2030."

GENERATIONS

PINOT NOIR

Our 2023 Silver Eagle “Generations Pinot Noir” is a true testament to winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown’s non-interventionist style, allowing the fruit to shine through first and foremost. The growing season of 2023 was near perfect, coupled with the cool Occidental vineyard site, allowing for extended hang time and producing wines with complex flavors and a distinctive marine influence. Fermentation with 25% whole cluster made for a beautifully perfumed, aromatic Pinot Noir.

Offering scents of Christmas spice, cherry, cranberry and some forest floor, the wine’s balance really shines through to a long-detailed finish. We are thrilled to be working with the Valdez Family and this historic site for many “Generations” to come.

2024
SAUVIGNON BLANC

YOUNTVILLE

The 2024 growing season at Gamble Vineyard in Yountville started with a cool, wet winter that moved to a mild spring and moderate summer temperatures. The Sauvignon Blanc fruit enjoyed an extended hang-time, preserving the natural acidity and aromatic intensity of the grapes and highlighting the signature minerality from Tom Gamble’s alluvial and sandy loam soils in the Riverbound block.

In the glass, the wine offers a lively profile of citrus, green melon, white florals and wet stone followed by similar flavors in its long, perfumed finish. Aged in 20% neutral French oak, the palate is medium to full, with a round, lush mouthfeel punctuated by citrus notes.
